The 1/3 Profile in Human Design
The 1/3 Profile is the most deeply experiential profile in Human Design. The conscious 1st line investigates and researches to build a solid foundation, while the unconscious 3rd line learns through trial and error. Together, they create someone who needs to study things deeply AND discover through direct experience. This is a profile of resilience — the 3rd line means things frequently don't work out, but each "failure" is data that strengthens the foundation.
Line 1 — The Investigator
Line 1 — The Investigator: You have a conscious need to research, study, and build a solid foundation of knowledge before you feel secure. You need to get to the bottom of things. Without a secure foundation, you feel anxious and insecure. When you have done your research, you become an authority.
Line 3 — The Martyr
Line 3 — The Martyr: Unconsciously, you learn through trial and error. Things break, relationships end, experiments fail — and through each experience, you discover what works and what doesn't. This is not personal failure; it is the design's way of gaining wisdom through direct experience.
