Understanding Lunar Authority

Lunar Authority is unique to Reflectors — the only Human Design type with no defined centers. Without any consistently defined inner authority, Reflectors are designed to move with the Moon. As the Moon transits through the 64 gates over approximately 28 days, it activates different parts of the Reflector's design in sequence, giving them access to every possible perspective, awareness, and quality of energy before they arrive at clarity. The Lunar cycle is not a limitation — it is the Reflector's built-in wisdom mechanism. It ensures that major decisions are informed by the full spectrum of experience, not just one emotional moment or one rational argument.

What It Feels Like in Practice

Lunar Authority feels like a gradual crystallization of knowing over time. On day one after receiving a significant question or offer, you might feel excited, uncertain, enthusiastic, or apprehensive — all valid, none of them definitive. Over the following weeks, as the Moon moves through different gates and activates different aspects of your open design, you will experience the question through many different lenses. Some days, a path will feel obvious. Other days, the same path will seem impossible. As the full cycle completes, the noise settles and something quieter and more durable emerges — a knowing that has been tested against your full range of possible experience. That is your clarity.

How to Use Your Lunar Authority

For major decisions, wait a full lunar cycle (approximately 28 days). During this time, talk about the decision with different trusted friends — not for their advice, but to process out loud and notice what you hear yourself say. Keep a journal. Notice how you feel about the question on different days and in different environments. After 28 days, you will have experienced the full spectrum of perspectives, and clarity will have had time to emerge from the accumulation. For smaller daily decisions, connect with how the Moon is activating your design in the moment — transiting moon energies give you real-time guidance for day-to-day navigation.

1. For your next major decision, commit to a full 28-day waiting period. On each day, write one sentence about how you feel about the question. Read it back at the end of the cycle.
2. Track the Moon's transit through the gates over one lunar cycle and notice how your energy, clarity, and mood shift as it moves — this is your Lunar Authority in action.
3. Talk about a significant question with five different trusted people across the cycle — not asking for answers, but sharing where you are. Notice how each conversation reveals a different facet of your own knowing.

Authority & Type: How They Work Together

Lunar Authority is exclusive to Reflectors. Reflectors have no consistent Strategy in the way other types do — their experience of life is fundamentally different, shaped by the sampling of energy centers rather than the consistent expression of them. The closest thing to a Strategy is: wait a lunar cycle and be in the right environment. For Reflectors, environment is everything — the quality of the places and people they surround themselves with directly determines the quality of their experience.
