Splenic Authority
"Trust your spontaneous intuitive hits."
Understanding Splenic Authority
Splenic Authority is the oldest awareness in the body — primal, instinctual, and operating entirely in the present moment. You have it if your Spleen Center is defined but your Solar Plexus and Sacral are both undefined. The Spleen speaks once, softly, and in the now. It is the body's survival intelligence, registering what is healthy, safe, and aligned in any given moment. Unlike Emotional Authority, there is no wave to ride — and unlike Sacral Authority, there are no sounds or physical jolts. The Splenic knowing is a quiet flash: a subtle pull, a sudden chill, a faint inner voice, a momentary awareness that arrives and then vanishes.
What It Feels Like in Practice
Splenic Authority feels like a quiet, instantaneous knowing that appears and immediately begins to fade. It might feel like a faint chill on the back of your neck when something is wrong. Or a subtle brightening sensation when something is right. Or an almost-silent inner voice that says one word and then goes quiet. The distinctive quality of Splenic Authority is its impermanence — the signal arrives in the moment and does not repeat itself. If you miss it and look for it again five minutes later, it is gone. Many people with Splenic Authority describe it as "knowing something without knowing how I knew it" — and often realizing, in retrospect, that their first instinct was correct.
How to Use Your Splenic Authority
The Spleen speaks only once and never repeats itself. It is a quiet, subtle knowing in the moment — a flash of intuition, a chill, a spontaneous pull toward or away from something. The challenge is learning to trust this quiet voice over the louder voice of the mind. The mind will tell you to analyze, wait, ask others, make a pros-and-cons list. The Spleen has already answered. Practice noticing your first instinctual response before the mind kicks in with its commentary. The more you trust and act on Splenic signals — especially the quiet, barely-there ones — the more clearly the Spleen begins to communicate.
Not-Self Traps
Ignoring your initial instinct because it doesn't make logical sense or can't be explained. Overriding your intuition with mental analysis and deliberation. Holding on to things — people, situations, habits — that your Spleen is telling you to release. Going back to look for the Splenic signal after it has passed and trying to recreate it. Dismissing the quiet inner voice as "not enough" of a signal.
Experiments to Try
Practical experiments for living your Splenic Authority authentically:
- For two weeks, pay close attention to your very first response to new situations, people, or choices — write it down before your mind starts analyzing. Notice how often that first instinct turns out to be correct.
- Practice making at least one decision per day from the Splenic flash alone, without analysis — something low-stakes at first, then gradually bigger. Notice what happens.
- Notice when you are holding onto something (a job, a relationship, a habit) that gives you a recurring low-level sense of wrongness. That is your Spleen asking you to release. What would happen if you listened?
- Experiment with acting immediately on clear Splenic signals rather than waiting to "think it over" — the Spleen is a now-intelligence. Its guidance is most useful when acted on in the moment.
Authority & Type: How They Work Together
Splenic Authority is found in certain Manifestors and Projectors. For Manifestors with Splenic Authority: the Splenic flash can trigger the impulse to initiate, but remember to inform others before acting on it. The Spleen tells you what is correct; your Strategy tells you how to act on it. For Projectors with Splenic Authority: wait for the invitation, then let the Spleen guide whether to accept. Projectors sometimes misread Splenic signals as urgent — but the Splenic Projector still needs to wait for recognition and invitation before acting. The authority is fast; the strategy still requires patience.
